Irrigation

Watering the plants in your container garden is one of the essential ways of maintaining beautiful and healthy plants.

To lessen the chore of watering your garden you may wish to install an irrigation system.

There are many types of irrigation systems that are available on the market to make this an uncomplicated task. Some are so easy that even an average person can install them by themselves. The name of one type of system is called the drip irrigation system.

How to Create a Drip Irrigation System

The drip irrigation system is a simple solution that can be installed with any of the planters offered through the Jay Scotts Collection. It requires a small tube (approximately ¼”) that will be placed inside the planter to bring it water.

There are at least two ways that this can be done. Either …

  • Drill a hole in the bottom of the planter prior to planting. Then run the tubing from the bottom of the planter to the top of the surface, (In some cases you may wish to drill the hole in the side of the planter and run the tubing through that way.) To drill a hole in the side of the planter requires a little more effort in order to not chip the finish of the planter. Use a smaller drill bit and remember that the larger the drill bit, the greater the likelihood of chipping.
